Land at Onward Holdings, Ackworth

VHE was awarded the contract to undertake the demolition, earthworks, remediation and infrastructure on the land at Onward Holdings, Ackworth for future residential development.

The scheme involved the demolition of the former transport factory building, breaking out all foundations and floor slabs and recycled for reuse.

Following demolition, the floor slabs and foundations were broken out and the resultant hard materials processed for reuse within the works as capping, Type 1 subbase and pipe bedding for 1500mm diameter drainage pipes. The top 2 metres of the existing made ground was excavated, screened and crushed to produce suitable fill.

The platforms for housing development were constructed main drainage installed, including 200m of 1500mm diameter storage pipes as well as the main estate roads. In addition, we undertook the design and construction of a gabion retaining wall to site boundary and carried out probing for high wall and piling position in advance of the piling.
