VHE were instructed to prepare the former Oswin Mills property for a future housing development by Gleeson.

VHE removed all buried and surface structures, together with foundations, including surface slabs, and processed the materials to provide processed aggregates to adoptable standard for use within the works.

  • 1190m3 6f2
  • 1060m3 Type 1 subbase
  • 650m3 40mm pipe bedding
  • 300m3 10-20mm pipe bedding
  • 550m3 10mm to dust duct bedding

Also carried out as part of the contract, was the site clearance of specified trees adjacent to boundary trees with ‘Tree Protection Orders’. Bird surveys and dawn time bat surveys were required to be conducted prior to the felling of trees.

A Japanese Knotweed infestation was dealt with by excavating to 3m deep and relocating the JKW contaminated soils to another part of site where ongoing spraying treatment could be completed to render the materials suitable for reuse.

This enabled works to commence in constructing the site whilst treatment was carried out.
