VHE was appointed main contractor for the ground remodelling and remediation of the former Mercol factory site in Carr Vale Road, Bolsover.
The contract included turnover and re-engineering to a 2m depth of the site area after demolition to create a stable build platform. The site was reinstated to generalized levels, applicable to the build platform and intermediate roadways. Coal workings were also excavated to depth to remove old working voids and the mine shafts capped.
The main drainage, including a reinforced concrete storage tank, was built within the road layout, along with the main duct crossings. The drainage was also laid into the Carr Vale roadway to form the hydrobrake connection to the main sewer.
The main estate spine road was constructed to binder course level and all Section 278 works to the bell mouth, footpaths and roadway reinstatement were carried out to the Council’s adoptable specification.
