Hannah Sellars joins as a Civil Engineering Apprentice

Last week the VHE team welcomed back Hannah Sellers who completed a T Level in Construction Design, Planning and Surveying at Barnsley College during which Hannah spent time working at VHE To gain work experience across a number of departments.

We are pleased to announce that Hannah has progressed to undertaking a Civil Engineering Technician Apprenticeship, with T3 Training and Development at VHE #team .

We look forward to seeing Hannah develop over the coming two years.

VHE Sponsor AFC Pogmoor U15 Girls Team

AFC POGMOOR u15 Girls team are being sponsored by VHE and we are please to announce they have had a cracking start to their season winning their first three games in the Sheffield and Hallamshire Womens and Girls League.

They started as a new team a few seasons ago and after much hard work and dedication in training and matches they are now getting their due rewards.

Introducing Ciaran Stevens - one of our former Placement Students

Following on from our post about our current placement student Mohammed Hazan Arshad, VHE would like to showcase a video by Sheffield Hallam University featuring Ciaran Stevens who was a Placement Quantity Surveyor in 2021.

Ciaran is currently completing his final year at university and this video shows the experience of working with us for a year from his perspective.

Introducing Mohammed Hazan Arshad - one of our current Placement Students

VHE have employed over forty placement students who have undertaken a year in industry between years two and three of their degree course.

Many have come from Sheffield Hallam University and gained experience as Quantity Surveyors as part of our site teams.

A few weeks ago the University interviewed three of the students, each at a different stage of their careers and education, to discuss what the benefits of a placement position are and what its like working at VHE.

The first to be interviewed was Mohammed Hazan Arshad who is currently undertaking his placement.

New Starter - Owen Kilbane

We would like to introduce everyone to Owen Kilbane.

Owen joins the VHE family today as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor whilst completing his Higher National Certificate in Quantity Surveying at Leeds College of Building. Owen has worked over the past 2 years gaining experience working on several civil engineering contracts.

Owen will initially be site based working under the guidance of Luke Ashforth-Murray and the team at Brotherton Ings for and behalf of one of our new clients Keadby Generation Limited (SSE plc)

Steve Marshall Retires

Today the VHE team bid a happy retirement to Steve Marshall.

Steve has worked at VHE since 1993 when he joined as a Senior Estimator before progressing to Pre-Contracts Director in 2004.

Steve has been involved in the pricing of the majority of our most prestigious projects over the last 29 years including Harwell Southern Storage Area, Commonwealth Games Glasgow, Partington Hub and Cluster Site as well as all National Grid Framework Projects, Cudworth and West Green Bypass, Sighthill TRA amongst many, many others.

He has been a huge part of the team at VHE and his personality and knowledge will be hugely missed.

Have a fantastic retirement Steve from all at VHE Construction.

Welcome back Maxine

We are pleased to announce that Maxine Pwele has returned to VHE as a Geo-Environmental Engineer.

Maxine worked for us from 2020 to 2021 as a placement student during her degree at the University of Leeds where she gained a first in BSc Geography and Geology (Industrial) .
