VHE support Sheffield Childrens Hospital's Snowflake Appeal

VHE are pleased to be funding a Snowflake in support of Sheffield Childrens Hospital.

The initiative provides a better future for the staff, patients and families at the hospital.

The snowflake will be visible on the side of Barnsley’s Alhambra Centre from the 24th November .

VHE supports STEM event

Last week Gemma Hickingbotham CGeol attended the Bradford Science Festival at the National Science and Media Museum as a STEM ambassador and engaged with the attendees using an IPad controlled the LEGO Group truck.

We think Gemma enjoyed the engineering side more than than anyone there and is now looking to order one for Christmas!

VHE celebrate 25 years working with National Grid Property Holdings

Since VHE Construction were first appointed in 1996 on the Project Atlantis Framework for British Gas we have been involved in the reclamation of over 500 sites across the length and breadth of the England, Scotland and Wales.

The framework is now known as the Provision of Land Regeneration Contracting Services for National Grid Property Holdings Ltd and VHE are proud to remain engaged with the client on projects across UK.

Ravenscraig park opens to its first visitors

VHE are proud see the completed park at the former steelworks Ravenscraig with the first visitors enjoying the outdoor space.

During the work VHE assisted North Lanarkshire Council in addressing the legacy of the site with earthworks that included void filling to topside of the drainage layer to prevent settlement.

We Are Hiring - Geo-Environmental Engineer

VHE Construction is seeking to appoint a Geo-Environmental Engineer to join our busy Geotechnical and Environmental team based in Barnsley operating across the UK. The purpose of the role is to assist in the delivery of projects, principally in the field of soil and groundwater investigation, contaminated land assessment, geotechnical testing and site remediation. The key responsibilities for this role are to; direct junior engineers in collation and reporting of site data including environmental (noise, odour, vibration etc.), obtaining geotechnical and chemical samples in addition to insitu testing, factual reporting and validation reports, providing technical support to our estimating team, design of remediation projects in addition to regulatory, client and third party liaison.

We are looking for an experienced candidate, minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role who is confident, proactive and able to manage and work across a number of sites. A full clean UK Driving Licence is essential.

VHE add to biodiversity on Northern Gas Networks site in West Yorkshire

Following on from the remedial works completed earlier this year on a Northern Gas Networks site in West Yorkshire, VHE have installed Bird and Bat boxes contributing to NGN’s Homes for Nature scheme.

NGN achieved their target of making changes to encourage biodiversity at 50 of their infrastructure sites between 2018 and 2021, and have now set a target of 250 sites by 2026.
