Following our successful remediation project for the Homes and Communities Agency at the “Serpentine AMH”:http://www.vhe.co.uk/blog/post.php?s=2014-08-30-hca-success-at-amh-serpentine site in Aston, Birmingham, VHE have secured the contract to remediate and prepare for development the former Rylands Garage site which is on the opposite side of Aston Hall Road.
Works are being carried out on behalf of Birmingham City Council and will be undertaken in three phases by VHE. The initial phase will include the removal of tanks and interceptors from the site and the recovery of LNAPL free product from within the ground.
The former New Adventures pub is incorporated within the site and it is to be demolished as part of the subsequent phases, however additional borehole installation and monitoring will form part of the initial phase in order to confirm final “remediation”:http://www.vhe.co.uk/remediation/ requirements.
This phase of works will comprise the removal of slabs and residual building foundations along with the re-engineering of made ground to create a platform for future development. Works will adhere to the Birmingham Business Charter for Social Responsibility with phase one scheduled for completion before the end of 2015.
