VHE was originally asked to carry out demolition and remediation of the site to facilitate construction of residential properties.

We identified the potential to recycle materials from the remediation and demolition works for use within the future infrastructure works and also to phase the works to suit the customer’s build programme and access requirements.

This provided both cost and programme benefits for the customer and allowed on site treatment of Japanese Knotweed to be carried out at a reduced cost. The first phase of remediation and infrastructure was completed on time and also facilitated early possession of parts of the site.

The demolition included the removal of asbestos and the remediation included identification and disposal of contaminated materials. The segregation and treatment on site of Japanese Knotweed utilised areas not required for immediate development, was synchronized with the growing season to maximize the effect of chemical application.
