The site was formerly a gasworks which closed in 1901 and was subsequently redeveloped in 1902. The works for Perth and Kinross Council will take approximately four weeks and is being undertaken under the contaminated land regime Part 2A of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
The site is in the centre of the picturesque Scottish City of Perth and has difficult access and logistical issues with all residents continuing to live in their properties throughout the works. VHE have a long track record of undertaking these types of works throughout the UK but in particular similar schemes involving residential properties have been undertaken by VHE in Scotland in Hawick, Renfrew, Toryglen Glasgow and Loanhead.
The contract adds to VHE’s growing portfolio of remediation contracts in Scotland and adds to the increasing presence of VHE in Scotland following the establishment of a regional office in Cumbernauld.
