VHE have been awarded the contract for the remediation of a former Gas Works site in Leicester which is being developed in preparation for a new Community Sports Arena.
The new, state-of-the-art £4.5 million multi-purpose arena is being built through a joint venture of Leicester Riders basketball team, Leicester City Council and Leicester College.
The remediation project is scheduled to last 20 weeks and will commence in early January 2015, with VHE working closely alongside designers WYG ltd throughout. The arena could potentially be up and running as early as the autumn 2015. Once construction is complete it would be capable of staging major indoor events as well as Riders’ matches.
The arena will also be home to a fitness suite, classrooms, offices, bar and café. It will also provide teaching and learning for the students of Leicester Sport College.
