A highly experienced civil engineer with extensive remediation experience, Alan previously worked for a number of specialist remediation and general civil engineering contractors carrying out schemes for a wide range of customers including National Grid. He has a detailed understanding of brownfield redevelopment including alternative remediation methods such as soil washing, bioremediation (in and ex situ), soil stabilisation, low temperature thermal desorption (LTTD) and direct injection.
Alan will take responsibility for VHE’s existing schemes in Scotland and will operate out of their Cumbernauld office.
Steve Stiff, Managing Director of VHE, commented: “VHE has been instrumental in the remediation and regeneration of numerous Scottish sites, most notably the Commonwealth Games Athletes Village and currently Shawfields. Alan will help VHE develop a long term and sustainable Scottish business by building on our network of existing frameworks and relationships, while developing new ones based on our commitment to retain a senior management presence in the area.”
Alan McKillop added: “With combined experience in land remediation and civil engineering, VHE has a capability that extends way beyond its current projects. The company has an established and proven technical competence in many sectors that have growth potential in Scotland. I will be using my contacts and experience to increase awareness of VHE’s capabilities and help achieve our strategic goals.”
Married with two ‘grown up’ girls Alan lives just outside Perth and spent five years as a professional footballer with Scottish premiership side St Johnstone and other senior clubs.
