VHE are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted as finalists for the Ground Engineering Awards 2015.
VHE are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted as finalists for the Ground Engineering Awards 2015.
The black-tie occasion takes place at the Hilton Park Lane Hotel on June 10th and brings together high profile companies across the UK celebrating engineering excellence.
VHE has been nominated in the following two categories; Technical Excellence and Sustainability, showcasing our commitment to both company operational excellence and the environment in delivering the highest quality standards.
Our nominations have evolved from our involvement as Principal Contractor on the Shawfield Regeneration Project, part of Clyde Gateway Regeneration Scheme. Clyde Gateway has embarked on one of the largest regeneration schemes in Scotland for many years, covering 840 hectares, designed to drive forward a massive investment programme over a 20 year period and to deliver unparalleled social, economic and physical change.
Working with Provectus, Turner and Townsend and AECOM, the Shawfield Regeneration Project enabled Clyde Gateway to facilitate the task of remediating large tracts of previously derelict and contaminated land in order to launch the National Business District (NBD) which will bring back much needed jobs and economic growth to the area, delivering initiatives asked for by the community.
Requiring co-ordination across a number of projects in the delivery of the Commonwealth Games construction programme, the remediation of the Phase 1 site demanded close collaboration across the supply chain to deliver the project using an innovative process for the treatment of hexavalent chromium at depth, believed to be a first in Europe, and the re-cycling and re-use of existing demolition materials within the site.
This year, the awards have been expanded to ensure they reward and recognise the pinnacle companies for innovation, project delivery, business acumen and technical prowess, leading to a comprehensive and impressive shortlist of companies.
With over 30 years’ experience in contaminated land remediation, earthworks and infrastructure across the UK, we have been able to firmly establish ourselves as a pioneer within the industry and are thrilled to be shortlisted as a finalist this year.
Steve Stiff, Managing Director at VHE commented “These two nominations are recognition of our commitment in the development of new and innovative methods for the delivery of specialist contamination remediation. We recognise the hard work and close collaboration of our partners in this process and I would like to thank all those involved in this project for their hard work and dedication in delivering a first in Europe, setting the benchmark for future projects of this nature.”
VHE have previously won the National Grid Land Regeneration Most Sustainable Project Award 2011 and the Ground Engineering Sustainability Award 2012 for work done on the Partington Cluster Project – National Grid’s first commercial scale hub and cluster project resulting in 26% efficiency savings compared with remediating the sites on a standalone basis.
