VHE has been awarded the contract for the first phase of a regeneration programme for the Shotts area between Glasgow and Edinburgh by North Lanarkshire Council.
The site, currently an area of public open space on the site of the former Shotts Iron Works and Crowley Russell Tar Factory, has been closed off to allow works to remove contaminated material and replace it with clean material. Extensive environmental monitoring and control will be undertaken as part of the contract for which WSP Environmental are acting as Consulting Engineers.
The first part of the remediation programme will remove soil from the most heavily contaminated area and then clean material will then be used to replace the material removed.
VHE Construction Director Gordon Wilson said “We have extensive expertise in this type of work and in liaising with local residents to ensure the works are delivered with minimal impact. We are also delighted to continue our success in winning work in Scotland as we have had a presence in the region for many years now.”
