The Leeds Abbey Dash is one of the most recognised 10km events in the UK and with its recent inclusion in the England Athletics Road Running series, it will attract some of the very best road runners in the sport too.
Mark Webster, one of our Senior Estimators, is running in the 10km race on Sunday 15th November and will be doing so in aid of Age UK, a national charity which helps those over the age of 60.
Mark’s target is to raise £100 for the charity and he is well on his way to smashing through that target already. His training has been going well too, having carried out a similar six mile run in under an hour this week. Mark has been training at altitude in the Peak District and is sure to finish sometime on Sunday. He knows the distance will be fine and is looking forward to the challenge.
Every year, thousands of runners take to the streets of Leeds for the Abbey Dash, aiming to better their time and raise money for a plethora of different charities. The course is particularly popular because it is a flat, fast course with multiple spectator points.
This year will also mark the 30th anniversary of the Abbey Dash meaning that over the years millions of pounds has been raised to benefit others.
If you would like to help Mark beat his sponsorship target of £100, you can donate to his JustGiving page by visiting: www.justgiving.com/Markwebster71
Everyone at VHE wishes Mark all the best for his challenge and we are sure he will run a great time whilst raising money for a good cause.
