Spa Road, Lincoln
The former power station, with a site area of approx. 14,000 square metres, has been engineered to facilitate the construction of replacement railway bridges over the river and road close to the city centre in Lincoln. VHE undertook the site clearance, relocation of stockpiles containing low level asbestos and imported some 3,500 tonnes of 75mm rock, geotextiles and type 1 sub-base. This was in preparation for a crane build area, welfare and car parking and working platforms to facilitate the movement of SPMT (self-propelled modular transport) units which will supply part pre-cast bridge sections to an in-situ crane mounted on piles to be lifted trackside. Works commenced in May 2017 and were completed in June, with a second short visit post crane pile cap construction.
Stockley Close, West Drayton
VHE were commissioned by AMCO (working for Network Rail) to undertake the removal of temporary works installed as part of a multi-million pound rail infrastructure project. Former fishing and water collection ponds had been purposely infilled with rock and recycled products to enable an access road to be built to gain access to trackside. The imported materials were removed under duty for care for processing and further recycling. The pond is being re-formed and the area top-soiled and made ready for return to nature. Works commenced in May and are anticipated to be completed in July.
