VHE’s success in delivering sites for residential development continues with the successful conclusion of the initial phase of works at the former Brough Aerodrome site for Horncastle Group, a new VHE client.
The Brough South Phase 1 Enabling Works, on the northern banks of the Humber, involves ground improvement by creating a surcharge which will be monitored for three months. VHE will return in March 2018 when the surcharge will be removed and incorporated into an earthworks operation to raise levels within the site and utilise further stabilisation techniques to create platforms for residential development. VHE have created an attenuation pond and recovered hard materials which VHE will process to high value aggregates for future use.
VHE employed BWB Consulting as designers with TerraConsult installing extensive settlement monitoring equipment which will continue to be monitored over the surcharge period.
The 100 acre site project has been designed to accommodate new homes, retail space, leisure uses, commercial and industrial businesses together with supporting amenities. The £200m project is being brought forward by the Horncastle Group on behalf of the Brough South Consortium.
