VHE would like to pass on our congratulations to four members of our team who successfully completed the Yorkshire Classic Cycle Challenge on Thursday 18th June.
John Murphy (Estimator), Darren Whitaker (Equipment Support Manager), Holly Bradley & Noel Snape (Environmental Engineers) all completed the challenge along with 39 other teams in pleasant yet challenging conditions in West and North Yorkshire.
The Yorkshire Classic ride, organised by Solicitors Lupton Fawcett, was all in benefit of SportsAid which is a sports charity for young people. The route saw the team take on 58 miles of challenging terrain, with over 4000 ft. of combined climbs. The event started and finished in Ilkley, going out to Kettlewell in the Yorkshire Dales before returning to the start/ finish point.
The 58 miles were completed by everyone in just over 7 hours which included a lunch stop in Airton, with the VHE team finishing in an impressive 5 hours 42mins.
SportsAid is a charity which aims to help future British Sport stars, providing them with the financial support to reach the top of their sport. The charity targets athletes aged between 12-18 years old seen as having the potential to be Olympic or Paralympic stars.
Everyone at VHE would like to congratulate John, Darren, Holly and Noel for their superb efforts.
