Earlier this year VHE’s Kane Egan and Simon Smith volunteered alongside staff from AECOM to replace the play area at the Rotunda Liverpool Nursery in Kirkdale.
As a team we removed the old cover materials from the garden, uneven paving was re-laid, stone and soil imported and compacted to level and existing fencing repainted. The play area was topped off with rubber tarmac prior to opening.
The aim of the works was to provide a new nursery garden for the children of the nursery to be able to play safely.
Now thanks to a £500,000 grant from the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority work is set to start to renovate the historical buildings. The funding will be used to revamp the Grade II listed buildings, in a sensitive restoration of what are believed to be the last remaining set of Georgian terraces north of the city centre.
