We are pleased to announce that a Performance Beyond Compliance Certificate was awarded to Site Agent Phil Dews following a recent visit to the York Road Reclamation site in Birmingham for client Homes England.

The certificate was awarded under the rules of the Considerate Constructors Scheme.

The site complied with the Scheme’s Code of Considerate Practice by achieving high scores in the following categories; ‘Care about Appearance’, ‘Respect the Community’, ‘Protect the Environment’, ‘Protect everyone’s Safety’ and ‘Value their Workforce’. The project achieved an overall score of 40.

The Considerate Contractors Scheme Monitor commented “The project gives a positive and professional impression with adjacent roads being kept neat and tidy, especially in current weather conditions. The site has established excellent relationships with neighbouring residents, with all stakeholders being kept informed of any disruptive works which may be scheduled. Environmental issues have all been well addressed. Worthy of particular note is the donation of monies to local charities identified by the workforce, raised from metal recycling. It is good to see the length to which the contractor is going to damp down dust to monitor noise and vibration. Site cabins are of the partly eco-efficient variety. The safety and welfare of the public has been well considered and addressed. The site manager operates an open door policy to encourage operative participation in the project. There is strong company branding around the perimeter of the site. Social media outlets are being used to promote both company values and site information. Overall this is an excellent project with regards to all elements of the code of considerate construction.”

Works at the York Road site, a former Rolls Royce aeronautical control systems plant, include; Break out and crushing of slabs, hardstandings and foundations Crushing and screening Excavation and re-engineering of madeground to create platforms for residential development Treatment of hydrocarbon impacted soils
