VHE has been awarded the contract for reclamation of the former riverside development at Trent Basin in Nottingham.
The works, for the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), involve the dredging of the basin inlet, concrete repairs to both the basin walls and those out on the River Trent and the remediation of the land adjacent to the basin.
The remediation involves the excavation and screening of made ground, removal and processing of relic foundations and treatment and disposal of contaminated material in preparation for residential development. VHE is also employing specialist subcontractors to carry out the dredging of the silts from the water filled basin and to carry out concrete repairs to the walls. Both of these operations will undertaken from barges and pontoons involving specialist access equipment.
The works are due to start at the beginning of February and will be carried out over two visits to accommodate a second phase of demolition, still to be undertaken on the site.
Construction Director, Gordon Wilson, commented “We are delighted to have secured this project for the HCA as it is our first commission for their Nottingham office and look forward to developing a long relationship with them.”
