VHE have now completed the contract for the remediation of a former Gas Works site in Leicester which is being developed in preparation for a new Community Sports Arena.
The new, state-of-the-art £4.5 million multi-purpose arena is being built through a joint venture of Leicester Riders basketball team, Leicester City Council and Leicester College.
The arena build programme has now commenced and the building could potentially be up and running as early as the autumn 2015. Once construction is complete it will be capable of staging major indoor events as well as Riders’ matches. The arena will also be home to a fitness suite, classrooms, offices, bar and café. It will also provide teaching and learning for the students of Leicester Sport College.
The video below shows some footage from the ‘ground-breaking’ ceremony which was attended by the Leicester Riders team and signified the start of the build phase of the project.
