The government’s One Public Estate programme was created with the aim to rationalise and release thousands of acres of public sector land in order to build a further 25,000 homes, assisting with the county’s housing crisis and cut council running costs by approximately £98 million. It was revealed recently that over three-quarters of all English councils have already signed up to the scheme, so what does this mean for the land remediation industry?

Local authorities across England will be required to produce, and make publically available, an up-to-date register of brownfield sites available for housing. This is part of the government’s ambitious initiative to speed up the creation of much needed new homes across the country. Land can be freed up across England simply by highlighting derelict or underused areas so builders and developers can easily identity potential sites.

Once again the outstanding health and safety performance of VHE staff has been recognised at the annual RoSPA Awards with VHE being awarded our first Order of Distinction.
