In recognition of the work undertaken by VHE employees at the Howden Lane, York Road and Ellesmere sites we are proud to announce that we have won three bronze Considerate Contractors Scheme National Site Awards.
The environmental improvement works at Howden Lane (Wallsend), on behalf of long-standing client National Grid included; pre-commencement condition survey, services verification, investigation to delineate remediation area, excavation of existing tarmac and sub-base, excavation of underlying spent oxide for disposal, excavation of tar contaminated soils for disposal, laying geotextile marker layer, backfill with suitable site won and imported fill, reinstatement of tarmac surfacing, environmental monitoring, validation testing and topographical surveys including as-builts.
The land reclamation works on the former Rolls Royce aeronautical control systems plant site at York Road (Birmingham), on behalf of client Homes England included; break out and crushing of slabs, hardstandings and foundations, crushing and screening, excavation and re-engineering of madeground to create platforms for residential development and treatment of hydrocarbon impacted soils. The site was adjacent to residential properties, rail lines and local businesses.
The land reclamation works at the 1.8HA former railway station and sidings site in Ellesmere (Shropshire), on behalf of client Homes England involved re-engineering of the site to form development platforms for residential development, including the break out and crush of historical foundations, hard standings and drainage diversion. The works involved extensive environmental monitoring including mitigation for working around the Grade II listed former station building to the southern site boundary. To minimise fuel costs, emissions and noise to the local community VHE utilised the latest solar technology to power some of the site office establishment.
These awards are a continuation of our previous Considerate Constructors Scheme accolades and are testament to the exemplary standards consistently achieved by VHE employees.
