VHE secures enabling contract for housing development - Low Barugh, Barnsley

VHE have successfully secured an enabling package which includes the Section 278 Works from Barratt David Wilson Homes Ltd for the new housing development in the Low Barugh area of Barnsley.

VHE have successfully secured an enabling package which includes the Section 278 Works from Barratt David Wilson Homes Ltd for the new housing development in the Low Barugh area of Barnsley.

The works will involve the construction of two new road junctions under a Section 278 agreement which will serve a 170 plot housing development.

The first junction will be constructed on Dearne Hall Road, adjacent the Millers Inn public house. The second junction will be constructed at the junction of Barnsley Road, Barugh Lane and Claycliffe Road and this will include the upgrading of the existing roundabout to a much larger one. The Contract will consist of works associated with highway construction, including site clearance, earthworks, drainage, kerbing, paving, surfacing, street lighting, traffic signs and road markings.

The construction of the new junctions and housing development will also require the diversion of several existing underground and overhead services and involve works in the live highway requiring positive traffic management agreed with the local authority, Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council.

It is anticipated the site works at the Dearne Hall Road junction will commence in mid-February 2017 and will be completed in June 2017. The Barnsley Road Roundabout construction will be undertaken in conjunction with and dictated by the diversion of Statutory Undertakers services.
