Since then we have carried out several phases of remediation works and the installation of new drainage to serve future development.
The site, covered by the IUIF, is bound by the River Clyde to the south and previously included residential properties in amongst numerous former industrial processes. Former uses included chemical, soap, leather and textile works. The latest area being remediated contained a former print works, paint works and confectionary works.
VHE undertook extensive trials prior to the latest phase (phase 4) to establish the best option for segregation, recycling and reuse of materials resulting in significant reductions in budgeted costs.
VHE are currently segregating materials from within the made ground to ensure suitable reuse. This includes screening, analysing, chemical stabilisation and carefully removing and recycling a timber floor.
