VHE receive prestigious Network Rail STAR Award

The same VHE team worked on both the Stockley (based in Hillingdon, London) and Acton (based in Ealing, London) projects. The contracts were awarded following the equally successful partnership on the Trinity Lane project.

The award was issued to Raymond Ball, AMCO Project Manager. In recognition of the award each team member was presented with a Network Rail gift bag. One lucky team member also received the mystery gift of a Fitbit!

VHE Foreman, Dave Sheldon, commented; “On our sites both AMCO and VHE strive to achieve very high health, safety and welfare standards and to have these efforts recognised is very gratifying. I am certain that all involved had the value and importance of health and safety in the workplace further enhanced by the Network Rail team site visit.”

Network Rail HSE Officer, Alan Iles, commented; “It is a pleasure to recognise the standards and culture displayed at the sites at every visit. It is clear the team are given everything they need to carry out their duties in a safe and professional manner. Far too often people are reprimanded for non-compliance/poor standards which is why we like to recognise good sites and the STAR process allows us to do that.”

Network Rail’s Star programme recognises and rewards sites, work groups or compounds that meet and exceed high levels of health, safety and environmental risk control. A site must gain at least 90% to achieve a STAR award. The assessments cover supervision and management, sustainability (environment and public consideration), safety and site specific items.
