Following on from the Adventure Challenge in April this year to raise money for the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, on Saturday 2nd July a further team of VHE adventurers took on the Dambusters Walk in the Peak District to raise more funds for the charity.
The walk took the participants through the Upper Derwent Valley of the High Peak and around the large, Y-shaped Ladybower reservoir. At almost 20 miles and with some steep gradients to overcome the walk took 7 hours, which was a keen pace but the group rose to the challenge and all arrived at the finish line together and in good shape.
Temperatures throughout the walk had been fine although the weather had been mixed with waterproofs going on then off at regular intervals. Fairly moderate conditions knowing just how bad it can often be in the High Peak.
Thanks to Mark and James for organising the group and congratulations to Mark for actually running the distance as a training session for his first ever marathon attempt later in the year (watch this space!)
For anyone still wishing to contribute go online to the VHE dam buster challenge on the Just Giving page or visit the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice website.
