VHE win Considerate Constructors Scheme National Site Award
20 February 2018
In recognition of the work undertaken by VHE staff at the Advanced Manufacturing Hub Plot 2 site we are excited to announce that we have won a Considerate Contractors Scheme National Site Award which will be presented to us at the Considerate Constructors Scheme 2018 National Site Awards in April.
The project, delivered on behalf of client Birmingham City Council, included the removal of the boundary wall and foundations alongside the River Tame and works within the flood plain. The works were in the shadow of the A38 Aston Expressway, one of the main thoroughfares into Birmingham.
During the works the largest WW2 bomb found in Britain was successfully destroyed under a controlled explosion. VHE were credited for the way the incident, which caused widespread disruption to the surrounding areas, was handled on site.
The overall works at Aston AMH included the remediation of soils and groundwater, platforming by re-engineering made ground including the removal and processing of relic foundations and the demolition and dismantling of perimeter walls adjacent to both live railway and watercourse. The platforming will enable the development of the site for commercial and industrial use.
