Recycling

VHE can process recovered materials to produce 6F2 capping material and Type 1 grading specification material, drainage bedding and filter materials all to adoptable standards. This diverts material from landfill disposal and creates re-usable aggregates providing client savings and the further environmental benefit of improving our carbon footprint by reducing the number of vehicle movements to and from sites.

Projects at which we have recycled large quantities of material include Manor Farm Sewage Treatment Works in Reading, which involved the recycling of 130,000 tonnes of crushed concrete for re-use as bedding material for the infrastructure works, and Rugeley Power Station, where recycling site won materials reduced the requirement for primary aggregates by around 800,000 tonnes.
