Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council awarded VHE Construction the contract to reclaim the former BICC Pyrotenax Works in Prescott to enable its redevelopment as a new light industrial business park.
The reclamation works included:
- The demolition of 17 existing structures
- Processing of arisings for use as fill.
- Grouting and capping of old mine working.
- Removal of 3,000m3 of contaminated material; a result of the site's history of copper cabling manufacture.
- The construction of approximately 1km of 7.3m wide carriageway linking Carr Lane to Manchester Road.
