Building B41 Sellafield

The advanced works undertaken by Shepley Engineers involved:

  • Temporary ventilation system
  • Two argon plants for enhanced silo fire fighting capability
  • New silo fire fighting and Argon injection distribution pipework
  • Removal of existing argon plant facility and distribution pipework
  • Transfer of the existing cubicle No 1 instrumentation to the new control room
  • Complete removal of the North shield wall
  • Tunnel waste clearance prior to sealing the compartment chargeholes.
  • Tunnel decontamination and removal Construction of an outer retrieval building around the existing silo structure and effluent pipebridge
  • Construction of an outer retrieval building around the existing silo structure and effluent pipebridge

Shepley have been responsible for all aspects of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works. E&I works were carried out under our strict control by James Scott (an AGL company) who were employed directly by Shepley under a partnering arrangement.
