The design, detail design, manufacture, installation, testing and commissioning of the ‘A’ Bay light weight debris transfer facilities and ‘C’ Bay large item debris removal facilities within B30 was undertaken by Shepley Engineers. The project involved:-
- The lifting and disposal of 6m long beams crossing the ‘A’ wet bays and the installation of structural steel flooring and balustrades.
- The provision of a 3.2 ton capacity E.O.T cane & container parking frame for transferring debris for disposal.
- The provision of a disc cutting machine to be remotely deployed in ‘E’ bays to
carry out size reduction of debris.
- Provision of all associated C,E,I & CCTV equipment, including complicated interlock systems.
- Commission installed system & carry out proving trials. Installation involved working in high radiation & potential contamination conditions.
The confined conditions within ‘A’ & ‘C’ bay meant close planning and co-ordination were of paramount importance.
