Technology: Site Monitoring

Site Monitoring

VHE Technology support VHE’s on site activities by providing state of the art site monitoring techniques working to current best practice which protect both workers and the surrounding environment by providingthe correct data and early warnings.

Dust, fine particulates, noise, vibration and vapour generation from demolition and construction sites can be reduced through effective management techniques including.

Dust and particulate monitoring

• Dust monitoring including total dust deposition, personal sampling pumps to record total inhalable dust and total respirable dust are regularly measured on sites
• Dust analysis of particulates can be undertaken with gravimetric and real time monitors which allow selection of PM10, PM2.5 and respirable dust fractions. This allows immediate reaction on sites to any issues which may arise on a daily basis

Noise monitoring

• Noise monitors including portable sound level meters conforming to Class 1 as defined by BS EN 61672:Part 1:2003.
• Noise monitoring reports

Vibration monitoring.

• Vibration monitoring using seismographs with sensors to measure ground-bourne peak particle velocity (PPV)
• Vibration monitoring reports assessed using the guidelines provided in BRE Digest 403

Odour Monitoring

• As part of VHEs on site environmental monitoring daily assessments are made at site boundaries to ensure that the environmental controls provide the protection required.
• Odour and organic vapour monitoring by photo-ionisation detectors (PID and olfactory observations)
