Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4 Page 5 Page 6Project Greenday Award winning collaboration delivering exceptional cost VHE first started working with National Grid in the Spring of 1996 at the commencement of the Project Atlantis Framework. Our task at that time was to deliver the remediation of former gasworks sites, starting with the Skinningrove Remediation Project on the Northeast Coast of England. Since then we have continued to expand our offering and consistently delivered quality results on projects across the country, often pioneering new remediation techniques to deliver cost effective results and developing different infrastructure solutions to meet the varying needs of sites within urban, rural, residential or industrial landscapes. Large projects or small, complex remediation, infrastructure or demolition, we have always responded to the challenge using our experience to develop new initiatives while working safely with National Grid to find the best solution for the task. Creating the Platform for Development In 2015 VHE, in collaboration with AECOM and Atkins, picked up the award for “Best Property Efficiency” for Project Green Day at the National Grid Property Awards; making substantial savings for National Grid as a client. Faced with the risk management of contamination at a number of sites, National Grid had expectations that the costs of remediation would exceed the expected land values when sold on for development. Using our design and build experience to minimise costs, VHE and National Grid were able to demonstrate sufficient savings to make the remediation works commercially viable. It is now known that savings of over £1.2 million will be made against the early, anticipated remediation costs of £2.5M.
